We have always wanted to work a New Year’s Eve wedding so when Karina and Teddy were referred to us from another client, we jumped at the opportunity to plan their DC New Year’s Eve Wedding. Karina, Teddy, and both their families are the nicest and sweetest people. This wedding was “third times the charm” as it was the third time they attempted to have a wedding. Karina got Covid twice before, postponing the wedding (though they got legally married in 2021), so everyone was ready to celebrate!
The couple and their families were thrilled to have had the wedding. Karina is Colombian and a lot of her family and friends that came to the wedding were Colombian and they came ready to dance, drink, and celebrate the wedding and NYE! To further highlight Karina’s Colombian heritage, there were Columbian dancers dancing Cumbia at the reception to open the dance floor. Cubmia refers to a number of musical rhythms and folk dance traditions of Latin America, generally involving musical and cultural elements from American Indigenous peoples, Europeans and African enslaved people during colonial times.
The wedding was full of gorgeous decor and stunning florals that were an absolute dream and elevated the space. Karina’s father also built the showstopping escort card display. For favors the couple had beakers filled with Hershey Kisses as a nod to Karina being in med school. Following the lovely ceremony and a delicious dinner, the guests hit the dance floor and celebrated into the New Year, complete with party hats and noisemakers.
Karina and Teddy’s DC New Year’s Eve Wedding was such a highlight for the entire H&L team and we are so grateful to have been part of this beautiful celebration!

I had a New Year’s wedding this year with lots of moving parts. H&L made my day flow FLAWLESSLY, I was able to thoroughly enjoy my wedding day along with my guests and there were literally NO HICCUPS or fires to put out on my end at all, all day.
