So Much to do. So Little Time. That’s Where WE come In!
Welcome to Honey & Lavender Events.
I’m Maya and I have been passionate about event planning my entire life and fee lucky to work in such a fun industry. I have been planning events for over 15 years, ranging from personal intimate gatherings to events on the Hill to nonprofit galas and dinners to weddings.
I am a proud mama to two kiddos, Ava and Luke, and our sweet puppy, Lily. And can’t thank my husband Tommy enough for supporting my Honey & Lavender Events dream!
I’d love to get to know you and your vision for your next life’s event.

Meet The Team

Hello, I’m Elise!
“I’m a big lover of planning and attending events, as I am passionate about community engagement and local organizing. I have worked in the events industry since 2015, working as an event assistant at an agricultural venue that held weddings and special events in North Carolina. In 2017, my mom and I turned our farm into a wedding venue which has been a dream come true. Outside of H&L, I am a college student with hopes to attend grad school or PA school. A fun fact about me is that my twin and I hope to study abroad together in Asia before we start our professional careers. Cross your fingers that we can make it happen!”
Elise, Associate

Hello, I’m Christina!
I’m originally from New York City (Queens born & raised) and moved to Washington, D.C. for undergrad and grad school and haven’t left. I am a true city gal (I only recently learned how to drive) and love living in a city, filled with culture, diversity and people who want to do good.”
Coordinator

Hello, I’m Darcy!
“I work as a virtual assistant and wedding planner in Columbus, Ohio. I graduated from Ohio University and spent several years in the corporate world before pursuing my passion of wedding planning full time. That led to a further passion in virtual assistance specializing in work with wedding industry pros. I love the combination of planning weddings and also working as a VA to make my client’s lives easier!
Personally, I love road trips, Cleveland sports (for better or worse), laughing at the latest GIFs, meeting new people, and spending time with family, especially my niece and nephew.
I have lived in quite a few places including Montana, Washington, D.C., and most recently Austin, Texas in 2019. Austin is my favorite city and I loved my time there, but I am a Midwest girl at heart and Ohio is home! I’m beyond grateful to be part of the H&L team!”
Darcy, Virtual Assistant

Hello, I’m Olivia!
I am originally from Lexington, Kentucky but have been in Washington, D.C. for my undergraduate and now graduate studies. I am so excited to connect with everyone and be a small portion of your happiest memories!”

“Maya is a blessing! I was one of those brides that said “I don’t need a wedding planner so I can save money”, I was wrong!!! Fortunately, Maya came into the picture before I ruined it all. Maya was my wedding planner, venue finder, event decorator, florist, communication director, negotiation manager, therapist, and most importantly, a great friend! Maya was always there when I needed help and never failed to follow through with her promises. She made sure that we stayed on schedule and meticulously prepared and update our wedding timeline. Our wedding was sooo beautiful and everyone has been complementing that it’s the prettiest wedding they have been to. Don’t even think about planning your own wedding, just call Maya and your dream wedding will become a reality.”

Why Honey & Lavender?
There used to be a TV show on Nickelodeon called ‘Maya the Bee’ when I was a child. Since we didn’t have cable when I was younger, this was unbeknownst to me. However, my classmates used to terrorize me by singing the theme song around me and calling me “Maya the Bee” all the time. I HATED it. Through the years, the hatred started to wane and I embraced it. My mom and now in-laws whole heartedly leaned in to it by buying me everything under the sun with bees on it (candles, pillows, figurines, honey, blankets, etc). They call it my memorabeelia. And I’m still affectionately called “Maya the Bee” or “Bee”. In fact one of my daughter’s nicknames is “Mini Bee”. The bee saga continues!
My love for lavender began with my mom’s love for anything lavender, particularly fresh lavender. I cannot remember a time when I didn’t buy my mom something “lavender” for her birthday or Christmas or when we didn’t have a bundle of fresh lavender in the house. The beautiful color and scent has stayed with me – not only do I love the flowering plant, but it reminds me of my mom and my childhood.
We are excited to be a Member of the Association of Wedding Professionals of Washington, D.C.!
Honey and Lavender Events has been featured for themed events such engagement parties, summer weddings, private dining, and baby showers!
“Maya planned a warm and relaxing baby shower in our home. She communicated clearly throughout the planning process, shared creative and tasteful ideas for the event and put all our worries at ease so we could enjoy the day with our friends and family!”
