So Much to do. So Little Time. That’s Where WE come In!

Welcome to Honey & Lavender Events.

I’m Maya and I have been passionate about event planning my entire life and feel lucky to work in such a fun industry. I have been planning events for over 15 years, ranging from personal intimate gatherings to events on the Hill to nonprofit galas and dinners to weddings.

I am a proud mama to two kiddos, Ava and Luke, and our sweet puppy, Lily. And can’t thank my husband Tommy enough for supporting my Honey & Lavender Events dream!

I’d love to get to know you and your vision for your next life’s event.

Meet The Team

Hello, I’m JULES!

“Ever since I can remember, I’ve been a planner in every aspect of my life. Whether it’s planning family vacations, creating itineraries for girls trips or making organized spreadsheets.

For me, event planning is about connecting with others and making an idea come to fruition. It’s so rewarding to see people’s faces light up when they walk into an event and I love that I can be a part of some of the happiest moments of their lives. Outside of H&L, I’m a seasoned marketer, always looking for the latest trends on social media. In my free time, you can find me supporting local artists at DC music venues, Flash and Culture.

I’m originally from Ocean City, MD, and moved to the Baltimore area after my undergrad in Communications and PR at Towson University. I currently live in Alexandria, VA and I love the balance of living by the water and being so close to the city. I’m a beach girl by heart, but the city life is where I feel most alive.”

Associate

Hello, I’m Darcy!

“In 2019 I left the corporate world and took the leap into wedding planning! Planning events, holidays, family gatherings and parties has always been a passion of mine and to turn it into my career has been the dream. Being with people on their favorite days is so much fun and a huge honor. In addition to wedding planning, I’m also a virtual assistant for wedding professionals. While Ohio is my home base, I travel to DC often to work in person with my H&L team!

I’m originally from Cleveland, Ohio and have lived in many places including Montana, Washington DC, Austin, and Columbus. I’ve loved all of these places, but I’m a Midwest girl at heart and Ohio is home. Personally, I love road trips, Cleveland sports (for better or worse), laughing at the latest GIFs, meeting new people, and spending time with family, especially my niece and nephews.

Lead Coordinator

Hello, I’m Christina!

“I love seeing all the pieces come together for an event and love being a part of people’s celebrations and special moments. While event planning has been a part of my various full-time roles, I’ve loved strengthening this muscle through Honey & Lavender. Currently, I am a Global Operations Manager for an advocacy nonprofit and worked as a fundraiser for several years. In addition to event planning, I am seasoned petsitter and childcare provider.

I’m originally from New York City (Queens born & raised) and moved to Washington, D.C. for undergrad and grad school and haven’t left. I am a true city gal (I only recently learned how to drive) and love living in a city, filled with culture, diversity and people who want to do good.”

Lead Coordinator

Hello, I’m Olivia!

“I love event planning and every step of the process — from the beginning stages to the final product. For me, event planning is about connecting with people and making their vision come to life. In addition to being an Event Assistant with H&L, I am a full-time graduate student at Georgetown University pursuing a Master of Arts in Security Studies.

I am originally from Lexington, Kentucky but have been in Washington, D.C. for my undergraduate and now graduate studies. I am so excited to connect with everyone and be a small portion of your happiest memories!”

Why Honey & Lavender?

There used to be a TV show on Nickelodeon called ‘Maya the Bee’ when I was a child. Since we didn’t have cable when I was younger, this was unbeknownst to me. However, my classmates used to terrorize me by singing the theme song around me and calling me “Maya the Bee” all the time. I HATED it. Through the years, the hatred started to wane and I embraced it. My mom and now in-laws whole heartedly leaned in to it by buying me everything under the sun with bees on it (candles, pillows, figurines, honey, blankets, etc). They call it my memorabeelia. And I’m still affectionately called “Maya the Bee” or “Bee”. In fact one of my daughter’s nicknames is “Mini Bee”. The bee saga continues!

My love for lavender began with my mom’s love for anything lavender, particularly fresh lavender. I cannot remember a time when I didn’t buy my mom something “lavender” for her birthday or Christmas or when we didn’t have a bundle of fresh lavender in the house. The beautiful color and scent has stayed with me – not only do I love the flowering plant, but it reminds me of my mom and my childhood.

“Maya is a blessing! I was one of those brides that said “I don’t need a wedding planner so I can save money”, I was wrong!!! Fortunately, Maya came into the picture before I ruined it all. Maya was my wedding planner, venue finder, event decorator, florist, communication director, negotiation manager, therapist, and most importantly, a great friend! Maya was always there when I needed help and never failed to follow through with her promises. She made sure that we stayed on schedule and meticulously prepared and update our wedding timeline. Our wedding was sooo beautiful and everyone has been complementing that it’s the prettiest wedding they have been to. Don’t even think about planning your own wedding, just call Maya and your dream wedding will become a reality.”

“Maya planned a warm and relaxing baby shower in our home. She communicated clearly throughout the planning process, shared creative and tasteful ideas for the event and put all our worries at ease so we could enjoy the day with our friends and family!”
