This is our second year working on the Appleseed Network Annual Pillars of Justice event. This year, it was held in New York City! The H&L team traveled to New York for the event, while having a great time working with a returning client. Not to mention, we enjoyed exploring Harlem!

The event was co-hosted by The Appleseed Foundation and New York Appleseed and was held on September 19 at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York City.

They honored Raymond LinMaya Wiley, and Markus Green & Pfizer as the recipients of the 2023 Appleseed Pillars of Justice Award, as well as Gloria Sarmiento as the 2023 Appleseed Advocate of the Year and CREOKS and Rene Kathawala as the 2023 Appleseed Community Partners of the Year.

During the cocktail hour, guests and honorees could listen to a musical performance by a choir in the courtyard. They also could enjoy a Harlem-inspired menu for food and drinks. As a take-home favor, guests got delicious cookies. The cookies were branded for the event and included a QR code sticker on the back for additional fundraising.

The program honored so many deserving individuals and it was wonderful to see. The Appleseed Network does incredible work and we are beyond grateful to play a small part in this incredible event!
