Your big day will come with lots of important details and to-do’s. The stress of completing your “list” is common but, often there are important things that get forgotten until it is too late. Here is a list of some commonly overthought contingencies you should be including on your special day.

  1. Make sure to have a back-up plan for weather

No matter the season, day, or time of day, there is always a chance for unexpected weather. In the summer, it could be too hot or the opportunity of a surprise thunderstorm. In the fall, it may be colder than expected. To prepare for this, ensure that your venue will be able to accommodate a quick switch from an outdoor ceremony or event to indoors, or that they have a sufficient inclement weather policy in place. We also suggest being open with your vendors about the possibility of weather changes as you are approaching the day of.

  1. Ensure to order meals for your vendors

Your vendors; photographers, caterers, musicians, event planners, etc.; are there to help make sure your magical day goes off without a hitch and that means they need to be well nourished and taken care of. Work with your caterer to order a few extra meals for your vendors and have water available for them so they can do their job to the best of their ability.

  1. Include gratuities in your total budget

Going into planning you will have an ultimate ball park or strict budget you are sticking to. When figuring out how much you are willing and able to spend on your outside vendors, it is also important to include your estimated gratuities ahead of time. If you wait until the last minute to plan these, they can add up very fast.

Though these are just a handful of the things that often get dismissed when planning your big day, do not stress, and ensure to talk it out with someone (or multiple people)!
