Remember when I shared with you my Christmas wish list a few years ago? One of these was to plan a wedding around Christmas time – and my dream came true this Christmas!
Anna and Kyle wanted to have a traditional (in the aesthetic and decor sense) Christmas wedding around Christmas time and Honey & Lavender was all for it.
There are so many things that we loved about Anna and Kyle – how they met and their background (Kyle is from Kentucky and Anna is originally from Zimbabwe), how they were adaptable and flexible to the times (hello, COVID), but we especially liked how Anna, in particular, gave us pretty much free range on how to make her Christmas wedding dreams come true.
Believe it or not, we had to change Anna and Kyle’s wedding venue three times, the final venue being decided 2 weeks before their wedding date! While a bit stressful at the time, to be sure, I honestly think the where the wedding ended up being was the best location possible, in terms of awesome hotel management and the room and courtyard seemingly worked with our original vision. The Sheraton Suites in Old Town Alexandria is a wonderful place to have a wedding or any other event.
Anna said the most important thing to her for the wedding was the everyone immediately felt warm and welcome and festive, so that’s the guidance we took with the help of our amazing vendor team. While you would expect to see a Christmas tree at a Christmas wedding (which there was!) it served as a very functional piece to the wedding – guests were asked to sign the elegant silver ornaments hanging on the tree – a unique idea for a guest book – so Anna and Kyle would remember fondly who was at their wedding when they decorate their Christmas tree together for years to come. Modern Foliage absolutely stunned everyone with the beautiful flowers and greenery at the wedding, and the wedding cake by Cake Bee was a showstopper.
