Hello!
For my first Honey & Lavender blog post, I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite places to host an event in the DMV area, based off my personal experiences. You’ll see that an array of events will work with the venues suggested, though some types of events are better than others. If you are curious to know more, please let me know!
In no particular order:
1. Stone Tower Winery – I used to work here for a bit and got to know the entire property very well. Stone Tower has so many different, unique places within its property to host events of all kinds and sizes. The picturesque mountain views are pretty unbeatable.
2. Hummingbird – while I have only been here for late-night drinks and eats at their bar, I am planning on hosting a holiday brunch here in December. I was able to tour the restaurant and am so excited to host some of my favorite ladies here. It’s going to be festive and lovely.
3. Central Michel Richard – I hosted a decadent 30th birthday dinner party for myself here and the result was fabulous. A delicious meal and a lovely set table and private room. My POC here was a dream.
4. Hank’s Pasta Bar – an Alexandria favorite – with delicious pastas (and more!) + wine, how can you go wrong?
5. Carnegie Institution for Science – no bias intended, but yours truly got married here and had the reception here. It.was.stunning. With a beautiful, grand marble rotunda and classic columns throughout the ballroom, it’s not hard to have a magical evening here.
6. LongView Gallery – I love this art gallery for it’s blank state. Yes, it houses contemporary art, but for events, almost everything is cleared out and the host can totally “make the event” his/her own. It’s a great for those who want to completely build and style their event.
7. The Newseum – a D.C. staple on Pennsylvania Avenue. I’ve been to so many different kinds of events here and each time I leave so impressed.
8. Zaytinya – an impressive and artsy architectural structure on it’s own, combined with great food. Winner.
9. Fort Hunt Park – my little family and I frequent this park a lot with our pittie pup Violet on weekend mornings. This little (but not so little) park would be a great place to host a birthday party, a picnic, or corporate event.
10. Mount Vernon – who wouldn’t want to host an event at the home of our first POTUS? The stunning views of the mountains and water speak for themselves. Many options within the property are available.
More later!
